Relief from TMJ?

Does anyone have any suggestions for relieving the pain from TMJ? I have a nightguard thing but it doesn't seem to help. Advil or Tylenol doesn't get rid of the pain and headaches I get from it. It's so bad it makes my ear hurt too! Does anyone know if treating it with Glucosamine or joint medicine would help?
