Legal advice-car abandonment laws...dk wut 2 do?

ok my distant cousin told my brother that he could park his truck at his house because my brother was homeless and his truck had somethin wrong with it so he told my brother he would help him find what was wrong with it and help fix it. his truck was there fer like a week tops (i dont even think it was that long) but my cousins wife threw a fit because she was in the hospital and when she got home a huge black truck was in her drive way and she didnt kno whos truck it was. my cousin explained what was goin on and she was still pissy but said he could leave his truck there......a few days later my brother had gone to indiana (we live in illinois) 2 help his step-brother move so therefore he was not even in the state to get his truck. my couzin was texting and calling me telling me my brother needed 2 get his truck out of his drive way ASAP or they were goin 2 have it towed i tried and tried telling them my brother wasnt in the state but they wouldnt listen and the truck was towed. he didnt have the $ to get it out so he just left it at the toweing place. my brother now has a $10,000 warrant out fer his arrest for tressping and abandoning a vehichle. can they really prossecute him even tho he was broke and couldnt get it out and since he wasnt even in the state 2 get it???
